While we are happy to come to you and write free estimates to everyone in and around Medina Ohio, we understand the value to be able to self-inspect before calling in the professionals. Our building materials partner, GAF has created the I.O.U. method, which stands for: Inside. Outside. Up the Ladder. Inside: Your self-inspection will start in your attic, preferably during the day. Bring along a flashlight. Here's what you should be looking for, according to the GAF website: Outside: Once you've inspected your attic for sunlight showing through the plywood, dark stains or streaks and sagging, head outdoors next and check out: Up the Ladder: Now that you've inspected your roof from inside and out, the next step is to get up on your roof and have a closer look. We discourage heading onto your roof if you're uncomfortable or unable to complete this task safely, so this part can be saved for one of our estimators who has years of experience. For additional safety information, visit OSHA at www.osha.gov or the National Roofing Contractors Association at www.nrca.net.
If you do find damage, feel free to give us a call to assess your roof and get it fixed as soon as possible.

Being in a business where your decisions are with you for decades, we know how important it is for our homeowners to have piece of mind when selecting the style color and material of a new roof-they are guaranteed to last at least 20 years after all. We guarantee the best products and also we understand that is meaningless if we fail to hit your end goal-whether it be to make your home a place you're proud of or to skyrocket your curb appeal for when you decide to put your home on the market.
We closely follow the GAF blog and have found it to be an excellent resource to help you make the right choice! Here highlights the top three important factors in choosing your new roof:
2. Roof Pitch: in the video, it is explained that a low roof pitch looks best with a shingle that has a thicker dimension. A steeper pitched roof tends to be more flexible with unique, aesthetically pleasing shingles. 3. Exterior Color Palate: Lastly, you should go with a roof design that compliments the existing color palate of your home. Most importantly however, is a shade that matches your taste! Leading manufacturers have some great online resources to test your ideal materials against your own home-we have linked a great tool to our webpage under the tab titled"Virtual Home Designer", through GAF. For the past two decades, Hansen Restoration has worked to make a name for itself in the forefront of quality home renovations. Hailey Keil is a local Medina teen who is anything but ordinary. Hailey was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, commonly known as Brittle Bone Disease. Tasks that any average high school student might do-playing sports, going to dances, driving a car- would greatly alter the quality of life that Hailey knows now- the slightest bruise for us would cause her bones to break. Yet even with this difficult disease, one can find Hailey fighting villains, flying through space and and winning marathons-from the comfort of her bedroom. Day in and day out, she escapes with the help of video and computer gaming. Being transported into a game, Hailey can move about freely, in tip-top shape- without the burden of figuring out how to best move around without getting injured. Her only care is the simple (yet strategic) push of a button. She can do anything that she wants to inside a gameexperiencing adventures that are otherwise out of her reach. She lives at home with her mother, sister and Yorkshire terrier. The main goal between Hansen Restoration and Ora Designs is to create a room that focuses on making it easier for Hailey to feel more independent in her own space. So we quickly got to work brainstorming and have designed the perfect space for our dream bedroom winner-complete with an Osteogenesis Imperfecta-safe version of bunk beds (every kid’s dream), an organized gaming counsel and everything space-themed. Amy is fresh to the Medina small businesses, but walking into her spa makes it seem like she has been there for years. This lovely Medina, Ohio colonial had a roof that only had about 1 year left in it until it started to noticably deteriorate. Rather than wait for the rain to start dripping from the ceiling, the owner decided to get one step ahead instead.
Our team went replaced the old, builder grade shingles with a higher-quality architectural grade GAF-certified shingle. This particular shingle is also 6-nailed for maximum wind protection (up to 140 mph!). The customer went with Barkwood as the color to compliment the exterior color palate. With the recent tumultuous hurricane season showers we've been experiencing here in Ohio, be prepared to receive an unexpected guest at your front door. There are plenty of one-man companies around that boast inexpensive, bargain roofs, but we would like to stress that you get what you pay for when it comes to roofing, and while a low rice tag may be appealing the work done will not be. If you're not looking out for the warning signs, you could end up paying double for a job that could've been done one time. Here are some warning signs that you may be getting a quote with SCAM written all over it. 1) They conveniently show up right after a big storm: Also known as Storm Chasers, these types will take advantage of stressed homeowners. In a nutshell, they will usually travel door to door, passing out leaflets and offering significant discounts if the homeowner files an insurance claim after a huge storm. The work done is hastily finished and very poor, as they normally will go through entire neighborhoods claiming to have "just finished" a neighbors roof to get you to agree to their work. You can avoid falling for this scam by doing your research! 2) They Quote (really, really) Low: You may be shopping around for a new roof and come across a quote that is significantly lower. While this might usually pique your interest, beware! Some of you may be thinking that it sounds like a great deal, however this quote may not account for surprise miscellaneous costs that a professional would see from the start and add to the estimate before the job has started. The initial quote may be low, but you'll end up paying more in the end from surprise costs and a poor quality of work. 3) They Don't have much of an online track record: Whenever you invest in a new roof, it is critically important to do your homework and research your roofing company. If the person at large does not seem to have an online presence or any accreditation (BBB, Angie's List), we can't stress enough the importance in doing proper, thorough research.
Overall, when it comes to knowing if the unexpected guest at your front door is from a true, reputable roofing company, follow these signs! Save yourself the hassle and give us a call if you need a new roof! |
